This was really the pre-genealogy research, but it was family history oriented. My husband took me to meet his aunts and uncles. They, in turn, took me to visit old family sites. I took plants from the home places of both the Mitchell's and the Kramer's. Louisiana culture and heritage are different from other southern heritage because of the French and Spanish influences. Erath is named for my husband's great, great, great grandfather, August Erath. The Acadian Museum is located in this community that has many articles from the area.
