James Shows
James Crawford Shows was born
in 1921 to James Crawford Shows, Sr. and Ida Lucille Davis.
He grew to be a gentle, caring man devoted to his family.
I met Jim through the Internet when he responded to a query I had posted regarding the Shows family. That began a correspondence relationship via the net. I forwarded his name and address to another cousin that I thought lived near him and they met the very next day! The two became fast friends and visited often.
We got to meet each other on one of my research trips to Louisiana. He helped show me around Jonesboro and cemeteries in Jackson Parish and assisted me in that Parish research. He contributed his Davis and wife’s Ross lines to the compilation as well as his part of the Shows line.
He attended the 1999 John Shows Association Meeting in Moselle, MS with many of the Louisiana bunch. It meant a great deal to him to make this connection to family.
I received the following notification Saturday, January 22, 2000
Dear Friends,
This is just a note to let you know that Jim Shows fell asleep in Jesus on Friday evening, Jan. 21. He was at peace and we were able to keep him at home until the very end.
The Lord blessed us abundantly. We are thankful that his suffering was for such a short time. It was also a blessing that he was at peace and realized that God does all things well. The church has supported and helped us in every way possible. We wish to thank each of you for your prayers on our behalf.

Jim is greatly missed by all his extended family and friends.
